A Brief Mission

I feel stronger already. After researching for hours, I learned so much about online hate and harassment. To start, I did some of the suggested reading. I particularly liked the read on the digital gender gap; Men get called names, while women experience emotional, severe forms of harassment, often leading to higher rates of sexual harassment, stalking, and sustained abuse. It's a mans world ey? *yawn* This culture mission wasn't very pro-active. There wasn't a lot of "doing" to do, but more "understanding." After a bit of research I sat back and contemplated changing missions, with only a few days to go, because I felt like I had nothing to show for my work. I then realised that this mission might have a greater impact on me and my fellow students, more so than one where I was on my feet with it 24/7. This mission would be nothing if I didn't do my research. I physically could not get up in front of a lecturer and a room full of students and tr

Where is Safe Anymore?

Am I Safe in my Own Home? As my culture mission this week I decided to choose "Online Hate and Harassment: The Trouble with Trolling." Although I am really interested in blogging, YouTube, and Data Protection, I feel as though the internet is never going to stop growing and as a young actress and micro social media influencer, I should familiarise myself with online hate and how to cope and spread awareness about it before I delve into other aspects of the internet. I often hear people who get hate online saying "I put myself out there so what should I expect?" and I wonder why should we have to expect this? Who are the people behind these accounts and why do they target who they target? What are their aims and what do they gain from trolling people? I have so many questions that I'm eager to find the answers to. I also chose this mission because as my social media following grows, so will the hate. I have close to 7,000 followers on Instagram and a combin

Gif Me A Break!

GIF me a Break! Two weeks into the Creativity mission and I can admit that I never thought that there would be so much work put into a simple GIF!  I decided this week to form a group together, consisting of Darragh Cole, Melissa Gilmore, and myself! I created a WhatsApp group chat, and organised for us to meet up together during the week. We met up on Tuesday to discuss our different tasks that we would be doing for the week.  I chose to talk about the GIF culture and animated GIF. I wanted to do a powerpoint presentation so started a Microsoft Powerpoint and worked through my topics. I also figured out how to create a GIF on Giphy and decided to combine an animated GIF and a MEME GIF together, killing two birds with one stone. I ended up enjoying the process of making GIFs with Giphy and made a few! I included my favourite GIF in my powerpoint, although basic, I enjoyed making it and that's what matters.  I was shocked with the amount of information on the internet

Art of The What?

The Art of The Animated Gif As I begin my journey into learning about the Art of the Animated Gif, I understand that I have many goals to achieve in doing so.  My First Goal; is to learn something interesting about Gifs! Simple as that. I want to learn why they were created, what they are used for, will they die out or maybe stay strong in the world of social media? Are they used in more areas than just social media platforms? There are so many questions I have about the Gif, how is it even pronounced? These are all questions I hope to find the answer to as my first goal in this mission. My Second Goal; is to learn about how I learn with digital tools and concepts. By designing, understanding, and reflecting on my own processes I should learn a lot about myself and how I handle these tasks and how I should handle them in the future. I know myself I have a lot to learn and I'm eager to get my hands dirty and try new things out. My Third (and final) Goal (for now); Is

Robyns Space

BIO Hi There, My name is Robyn Trout and I'm 19 years old and from Dublin. I am an actress and last year I graduated from Bow Street Academy of Screen Actings' Full Time Course in Bow Street, Dublin. I really enjoyed this intensive course and it gave me a huge insight into the film industry and I knew from then on that's what I wanted to do with my life. I've always been really interested in the Media and have been since a very young age. If not singing and acting, I love the behind the camera action too. I enjoy photography and editing. I also love directing and Directing Photography in Film, but I have a huge passion for art. Art is one of the main reasons I chose this course. My dad is a sign-writer and graphic designer and I love graphic design. I believe art has so many opportunities, even in film I could be a production designer, a poster designer, DOP, head of visual storytelling, anything! It's all so exciting to me. I hope you enjoyed this little in
